About CAM DRIVER EDUCATION
C.A.M. (Central Alberta Mobile) EDUCATION was founded in 1993 by Kevin Robbins.
Every Fall C.A.M. Driver Ed celebrates it's birthday. 2016 is the 24th birthday of this little Truck Driving School on the Prairie. The Village of Bawlf and area has become a driver training destination for rural Albertans.
Kevin began trucking in Calgary in 1977. Based in Calgary he hauled alot of different commodities all over the U.S. and Canada but eventually worked in Alberta mostly, hauling alot of pipe, gravel, bulk cement & flyash.
In 1984 when boom had ended for the time being Kevin got his car and truck Instructor's License and taught Class 1 & 3 Driving for Foothills Driver Ed in Calgary for 2 years.
In 1986 he started Stampede Driving School 1986 LTD. which grew to include 4 cars, 6 instructors and a classroom facility that saw about 40 new drivers a month trained. In 1991 newly married, he sold Stampede Driving School to previous employer Foothills Driver Ed and moved to the Camrose area.
By the fall of 1993 the groundwork had been done and C.A.M. Driver Education was born, car driver training to begin with then Class 1,3 & Air brake courses were added, then eventually Kevin stepped out of the cars to focus on the truck and air brake training.
"I am proud that a high percentage of our business comes through word of mouth references by past customers and those that have employed past students" says Kevin.
One final note, Kevin remains active in Trucking as well as Training, and stays in touch with his gravel, asphalt and pipe hauling roots, and as a result keeps current with industry developments. So the last word goes to Kevin; " I understand your desire to drive for a living, I had it myself many years ago and now I look foreward to sharing what I learned with you too."
